I started fly fishing a couple of years ago with my dad, after much hesitation. I didn’t want to fully commit to something that I wasn’t sure I’d like, especially because it can be an expensive hobby. That is to be expected with most hobbies, but I didn’t want to purchase all of the stuff and end up being bored with it. The plan was for me to rent some fishing gear for my first few times, and if I liked it that much, I’d slowly acquire my own.Â
Of course, I got hooked. No pun intended. I wanted to make sure I chose the right place to get my gear, and preferably I wanted to get it all from the same company if that was possible. It turns out that it was, and it was definitely a real selling point for me.Â
I’m glad I discovered Trouts Fly Fishing. They not only sell quality fly fishing gear, but their website has a plethora of fly fishing information available to the public which is insanely useful. Not to mention, you don’t have to pay for everything up front which is helpful with those larger purchases.Â
The one decision that I had a hard time with was to choose my trout flies. My dad was a nymph guy for the most part. I wanted to try the dry flies also, to see what worked better, and just to know what the other option was that I had available to me.Â
I visited Trouts Fly Fishing to check out their trout flies to see what choices I had. I had no clue what would be best, but they had the option to choose to get half and half. That was perfect for me.Â
It turned out that I enjoyed the experience of using both, so I made the choice to switch it up. It’s super convenient when buying flies from them. Plus there’s no lack of information; you know exactly what you’re getting and how to use them.
Now my dad and I are out there at the very least twice a month. We were already pretty close but now I feel like our bond is even more special, which is great because neither of us is getting any younger. I always look forward to my time fly fishing with him.
I feel like Trouts Fly FIshing has made it easier to make our fishing trips happen. Who knows if I would have stuck with it if I had a bad experience somewhere else. Luckily for me, I don’t have to find out.Â
